Through the Lens: Color, Substance, Essence

DUFFY ARMSTRONG FARRELL works with abstract photography, using bad images, big mistakes and unsightly things to turn them into something that is fun, colorful or metaphorical. Seeing without judgement and exploring from multiple perspectives is not just found in her art making. It is how she believes we can understand the world around us and the people in it. Through the Lens – Color, Substance, Essence is about empathy and feeling something when there is little to work from. It brings the eye to focus on what is there as well as what could be there through positive thinking.

Duffy studied photography, drawing and printmaking at Bradley University. She holds a BFA and has worked professionally as a curator, art educator and studio artist in addition to being a statewide advocate for the arts and other artists.
