đź’›Every year, The Women's Spirit Project supports 'Chasing Change' to acknowledge 'World Suicide Prevention Day'. Chasing Change are hosting their 'Walk for Suicide Prevention' at Mornington Park, where the community comes together to reflect on the lives lost to suicide.

This year, we are offering a 1.5 hour Catch Up & Connect walk prior to the official proceedings of the Suicide Prevention Walk. Following our walk from 8-9.30am, we invite you to join the official Suicide Prevention event at Mornington Park, with official proceedings starting at 10am.

Our Catch Up & Connect walk takes us along the beautiful clifftop foreshore from Mornington towards Mt Martha.

Departing Mornington Park Rotunda at 8am sharp, we pass Linley Point Lookout at the southern end of Fisherman's Beach in Mornington, passing Fossil Beach towards Mt Martha and return to Mornington Park around 9.30am.

The trail is largely wide and flat with small climbs providing views across the Melbourne skyline and Port Phillip Bay.

Our volunteers will take some snaps and short clips along the way, to capture our adventure. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know at the start of the walk.

IMPORTANT: to support the experience and safety of our group, this walk is capped at 30 walkers.

🦋 JOINING THE SUICIDE PREVENTION WALK?

From 9am you can get yourself a cuppa, catch up and connect.

The event includes speeches from Chasing Change members, wider-community members, local politicians and other guests, all with the goal to start genuine, raw, and real conversations to help prevent suicide. One of the hallmarks of the event is a collective space to remember loved ones lost to suicide.

Prior to the event, community members are able to register their loved one's name with Chasing Change and on the day of the walk the names of loved ones lost to suicide are read aloud. Details on our booking page.

This formal event then leads into the community walk. There is an opportunity for community members to further commemorate their loved ones by tying a coloured ribbon to either a fence near the Mornington shorefront or another public space. Through the Walk for Suicide Prevention there are also opportunities for community workshops and hands-on activities with food and coffee options supplied by local traders.
