Dinner with an Artist: Susan Chrysler White

Join us for the second installment of our Dinner with an Artist series featuring Susan Chrysler White on Saturday, September 6th at 6:30PM. This dinner is in conjunction with her solo show, and directly follows the opening reception on September 6th from 4-6PM. Join Susan and a handful of other art lovers to share stories of art, life, and travel over a delicious meal served family style. The meal will feature a generous sampling of seasonal items from our restaurant, Véra, with wines and craft cocktails available for purchase. There are only 8 tickets available, so sign up early to reserve your spot!

Susan Chrysler White lives and works in Iowa City, Iowa. White’s paintings are constructed by accumulating layers of acrylic and enamel paint on transparent glassine paper. She cuts and tears these laminations of glassine and collages them onto canvas creating invented worlds representing interior experiences. Her paintings reference the anatomical, botanical, and spiritual while also drawing from her fascination with collections and patterns. White received the Joan Mitchell Foundation Award in Painting and Sculpture and the National Endowment for the Arts. White’s work is collected by various national institutions including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Worcester Art Museum.

Join us for the opening reception of Susan Chrysler White's solo show directly preceding Dinner with an Artist on Saturday, September 6th from 4-6PM. Additional programming includes an explorative and abstract Beginning Acrylic painting workshop that provides an in-depth look into Susan's creative process and give you a hands-on artistic experience in the style of her work, and a virtual artist talk (more details to come!) Susan Chrysler White's solo exhibition will be on view from September 6 - October 26, 2025.
