The Town of Mooresville is proud to present "Peabo Bryson - The Golden Touch Tour" at the Mooresville Performing Arts Center on June 14, 2025, at 6 p.m.
Peabo Bryson stands as one of modern music's premier vocalists. With his rich, operatic voice, this two-time Academy Award and Grammy winner has thrived across changing musical eras, becoming the first artist to simultaneously top four different charts across his twenty-album career.
Starting professionally at 14 with Al Freeman & The Upsetters, by 16 he was touring the Southern "chitlin' circuit" with Moses Dillard and the Tex-Town Display. His breakthrough came at Atlanta's Bullet/Bang Records, where he was signed as a writer, producer, and arranger. His 1976 debut LP "Peabo" featured Luther Vandross on background vocals.
At Capitol Records, Bryson's 1978 "Reaching for the Sky" went gold with the title track reaching #6 on R&B charts. "Crosswinds" delivered his beloved hits "Feel the Fire" and "I'm So Into You." Notable collaborations included albums with Natalie Cole and Roberta Flack, whose duet "Tonight I Celebrate My Love" reached Top 5 R&B and #16 Pop.
Disney collaborations cemented his global recognition: 1991's "Beauty and the Beast" with Celine Dion and 1992's "A Whole New World" with Regina Belle both won Oscars for "Best Song." These successes led to projects with Lea Salonga, Melissa Manchester, and Kenny G. In June 1993, he sold out seven consecutive shows at Radio City Music Hall.
In 2025, Bryson celebrates fifty years in music with eighty concerts across North America, Europe, and Africa. This iconic vocalist and gentleman continues adding chapters to his legendary career.
Doors open at 5 p.m. The Mooresville Performing Arts Center is located at 161 S. Magnolia Street, Mooresville, NC 28115.
