“The Silver Belles”
The Silver Belles is a heartwarming and hilarious one-act holiday musical set in small-town Tennessee. When the beloved director of the local Christmas pageant suddenly passes away, her friends—an endearing group of Southern women—band together to keep her legacy alive and save the show. With toe-tapping country tunes, colorful characters, and a dash of ghostly charm, this musical celebrates friendship, community, and the spirit of the season.

🎭REQUIREMENTS:
Arrive about 10 minutes before start time for registration purposes so we can begin promptly. Anyone auditioning is required to prepare and sing a cut song (1.5 minute in length) that will showcase your voice. We will be evaluating your performance on vocal quality as well as your portrayal of a character while singing. If you download an instrumental version of your song for auditions, we will have a Bluetooth sound system available to link your device. You may also sing your audition a cappella.
Dress however you feel comfortable, there will be cold readings. If you are interested in auditioning but unable to make one of these audition times, please contact the director, David Imboden, on Facebook, for special arrangements.
🎭ROLES:
• Oralene (Female, 50+)
The long‑time director and guiding spirit of Sylva Ridge’s Christmas pageant. A dynamo, confident leader—even beyond the grave.
• Ruth Ann (Female, 40+)
Former beauty queen turned cookie-baking fundraiser. Sweet-natured, nostalgic, practical.
• Gloria (Female, 40+)
Flirty, confident, fun-loving; sells kisses under the mistletoe. Bold, humorous presence.
• Berneice (Female, 50+)
Quirky town gossip and taxidermy enthusiast. Offbeat and eccentric with a darkly comic edge.
• Bo Jack (Male OR Female, 50+)
No-nonsense stage manager and radio host; devoted friend to Earl. Practical yet caring support.
• Earl (Male, 50+)
Widowed husband of Oralene; grieving song-writer trying to rediscover his purpose—and pageant. Gentle, emotional presence.
• Pianist (Female or Male, any adult)
Silent accompanist who never speaks but contributes comedic and musical character. Present and playing the piano accompaniment through the entire performance. MUST be able to play piano!
