Cultural Learning in Practice: Applying Culturally Safe and Trauma-Informed Care with First Nations Families
Join us for an in-person professional development workshop designed for allied health professionals who want to build culturally safe and trauma-informed services when working with First Nations families.
Hosted by Hello Sunshine Speech Therapy and Let’s Talk: Neurodiversity Supports, this half-day event brings together two passionate presenters:
Nikita Westbury (she/her), an Aboriginal speech pathologist and orofacial myologist, will deliver a 2-hour training focused on culturally safe and responsive practice. She will explore First Nations health, home language, yarning, advocacy, and how to embed cultural safety into everyday clinical work.
Kate Leitch (she/her), a Woppaburra Gaumi Enkil social worker, will present on trauma-informed care and the challenges First Nations families face navigating health systems. You’ll learn how to create more inclusive, strengths-based and holistic services that empower families.
Walk away with practical tools, fresh insights, and a deeper understanding of how to make your practice safer, stronger, and more culturally responsive.
