Dans Minimal Mile End, le pianiste Isak Goldschneider médite sur les sensations et les saisons de ce quartier emblématique de Montréal. À travers les œuvres de Linda Catlin Smith, Hugo Duguay, Hans Martin et Philippe Lauzier, le piano devient un journal sonore : rues calmes, floraisons soudaines, crépuscules d’hiver.
La seconde partie met en lumière le guitariste Steve Cowan dans Viscontian Pieces (2019–2023) d’André Villeneuve. Soliloques intimes et crépusculaires, ces pièces se succèdent comme des scènes d’un film intérieur. Chacune existe de façon autonome tout en s’inscrivant dans un fil conducteur subtil, évoquant le crépuscule, la nostalgie et la beauté fragile de la décadence. Villeneuve s’inspire de l’esthétique du cinéma de Luchino Visconti, où la mémoire et le destin vibrent au seuil du silence.

An evening of intimate soundscapes unfolds in two portraits—one of a neighbourhood, the other of a sensibility.
In Minimal Mile End, pianist Isak Goldschneider offers a meditation on the sensations and seasons of Montreal’s iconic district. Through works by Linda Catlin Smith, Hugo Duguay, Hans Martin, and Philippe Lauzier, the piano becomes a diary of quiet streets, sudden blossoms, and winter dusk.
The second half features guitarist Steve Cowan in André Villeneuve’s Viscontian Pieces (2019–2023). These are soliloquies: hushed and crepuscular, unfolding like scenes from an interior film. Each piece stands alone yet forms part of a larger thread, evoking twilight, nostalgia, and the fragile beauty of decay. Villeneuve draws inspiration from the cinema of Luchino Visconti, where memory and fatalism shimmer at the edge of silence.
