The Alexander Technique is a powerful method for improving posture, coordination, and presence. It's not about trying harder, it’s about doing less with more awareness.
Alexander Technique enhances musical performance by improving the physical movements involved in playing an instrument or singing. When a violinist holds tension in their shoulders or arms, it interferes with creating a beautiful sound; similarly, a singer with a tight neck or jaw will struggle to produce a resonant voice. By teaching musicians how to release excess tension and move with greater ease, the technique enables performances that are more fluid, expressive, and free from rigidity.
In this workshop, you'll learn how subtle shifts in posture, breath, and awareness can dramatically enhance your sound, presence, and ease of performance.
Many renowned musicians have praised the Alexander Technique over the years, including Yehudi Menuhin, Paul McCartney, Sting, Julian Bream, James Galway, and conductor Sir Adrian Boult.
The Technique is taught at the Juilliard School of Performing Arts in New York, The Royal College of Music in London, The Boston Conservatory of Music, The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and at many other schools of music, universities and colleges.
