Lucy Fandel and Isabella Leone are artists working at the intersection of dance, performance, and theatre design. Their collaborative practice draws on movement, spatial exploration, and embodied attention to place. For Angles of Consequence, they are developing a site-specific performance in response to the Suncor refinery and its surrounding environment, engaging sunlight and the landscape with a roving dance
explores notions of hidden labour, extraction, and attention.
Lucy Fandel is a dance artist and cultural mediator in Tiohtià:ke / Montreal. She grew up in Concord, MA (USA) and Beaulieu sur Mer (France) before studying dance and sociology at Concordia University. She likes places where water and wind circulate in strong currents. Through choreography, performance, teaching and writing, she explores how to connect to the poetry of movement within ourselves and in the world around us. Lucy has the pleasure of collaborating and dancing with artists including Allison Moore, Sarah Wendt and Pascal Dufaux, Nickle Peace-Williams and the collectives Daughter Product and As They Strike, among others. She is active in her community as an artistic advisor, journalist for The Dance Current, co-founder of Nous Sommes L’Été, an organization supporting the creative development of emerging artists, curator and coordinator of cultural projects in multiple disciplines
Isabella Leone is a performance maker, director and theatre designer. She is of settler descent and grew up on Syilx Okanagan territory in British Columbia. She has been based in Tiohtià:ke / Mooniyang / Montréal for ten years. Her work is guided by collaboration and experimentation, playing at the intersections of dance, puppetry, video, performance art, and installation. Through her practice, she fosters close attention to the worlds she inhabits, while threading together the realms of abstraction and the imaginary into things deemed known. Her work has been presented in OFFTA, Articule, RIPA, and Concordia’s Art Matters Festival and VAV Gallery. She has trained and interned with companies such as Big Dance Theater (NY), Theater Mitu (NY), Porte Parole (QC) and Bread and Puppet Theater (VT). She holds a BFA in Theatre and Development from Concordia University. Leone’s work has received generous support from the Conseil des arts de Montréal, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, and the Canada Council for the Arts.

*Outdoor performance in the summer! Feel free to bring your umbrella, sunbrella, hat, sunglasses, water bottle and sunscreen! It is an ambulatory performance, meaning we will be walking and standing during the performance, though some folding chairs will be available for those who need. There will be the potential to walk through tall grass and on asphalt. The site also has intense smells: masks will be available onsite for those who need, but people with chemical sensitivies might need to consider preparing for their own needs.
How much? It is free!
We will have a shuttle to take you there! It leaves from Honoré Beaugrand station starting a half-hour before the performance and return you afterwards.
There will be a bike train! A self-directed bike contingent will be leaving from the Dézery Square at 1:30pm on Friday and 3:30pm on Saturday. It is an hour long bike ride.

Lucy Fandel est une artiste de danse et une médiatrice culturelle dans Tiohtià:ke / Montréal. Elle a grandi à Concord, Massachusetts (États-Unis) et à Beaulieu-sur-Mer (France) avant d’étudier la danse et la sociologie à l’université de Concordia. Elle aime les endroits où l’eau et le vent circulent en courants puissants. À travers de la chorégraphie, performance, l’enseignement et l’écriture, elle explore comment se connecter à la poésie du mouvement en nous-mêmes et du monde autour de nous. Lucy a eu le plaisir de collaborer et danser avec des artistes tels Allison Moore, Sarah Wendt et Pascal Dufaux, Nickel Peace-Williams, et les collectif Daughters Product et As They Strike, entre autres.
Elle est active dans sa communauté en tant que conseillère artistique, journaliste pour The Dance Current, co-fondatrice de l’organisation Nous Sommes l’Été qui pousse le développement créatif d’artistes émergents, commissaire d’exposition et coordonnatrice de plusieurs projets multidisciplinaires.
Isabella Leone est une créatrice de performances, metteuse en scène ainsi que scénographie. Descendante de colons, elle a grandi sur des territoires de la nation Sylix Okanagan situés en Colombie Britannique. Elle habite à Tiohtià:ke / Mooniyang / Montréal depuis dix ans. Son travail est se laisse guider par la collaboration et l’expérimentation, jouant dans l’intersection de la danse, l’art des marionnettes, vidéos, performance, et l’installation. À travers sa pratique, elle porte beaucoup d’attention aux mondes qu’elle habite tout en liant les domaines de l’abstrait et de l’imaginaire à des choses considérées comme connues. Son travail a été présenté dans endroits tel au OFFTA, à Articule, au RIPA, au Festival; Art Matters de Concordia et à la galerie VAV. Elle s’est entraîné et suivi des stages avec des compagnies telles le Big Dance Theater (New York), le Theatre Mitu (New York), Porte-Parole (Québec), et le Bread and Puppet Theater (Vermont). Elle détient un Baccalauréat en Arts en Théâtre et Développement de l’Université de Concordia. Le travail de Leone a reçu du support du Conseil des Arts de Montréal, du Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Québec et le Conseil Canadien des Arts

Il y aura une navette! Elle part de la station Honoré-Beaugrand une demi-heure avant le spectacle et elle vous ramènera au même endroit après.
Il y aura un tour guidé de bicyclette! Un groupe de spectateurs en vélos partira de Dézery Square à 13h30 pour le spectacle du vendredi et à 3:30 pour le spectacle du samedi. Le trajet dure une heure.
