UC's Benedict Nature Preserve Presentation

The Environmental Advisory Commission is partnering with Dr. Theresa Culley, Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Culley will talk about the preserve's history and help you learn to identify plants and invasive species.

The University of Cincinnati has owned the Benedict Nature Preserve since 1929. The 65-acre forest was named after Harris M. Benedict, a professor who inspired students to raise money to purchase the land.

This preserve is now celebrating its 50th anniversary as a United States National Natural Landmark, one of only a few in the state.
Scientists have long been using the preserve to conduct groundbreaking research, including studying the effects of the 1999 tornado.
