By now most people are aware of the history of Red Ribbon Week. It began in response to the death of DEA agent Enrique Camarena, assassinated by drug dealers in Mexico. A small group of concerned citizens began wearing red ribbons in memory of Camarena and to encourage citizens to take a stand. The symbolism caught on with increasing numbers of people making a visible commitment to the goal of a healthy and drug free community.
So, what can you do? Demonstrate your commitment by being involved. The Berkeley County Prevention Board will sponsor the 34th Annual Family Fest!
