Together We Rise: Real Talk Between Parents & Teens About Mental Health
Date: Wednesday, August 6
Location: Believers Together Center, Moline, IL
Time: Doors open at 6:00 PM | Event begins at 6:15 PM
Mental health isn’t just a teen issue or a parent issue—it’s a family conversation. Join us for a powerful evening of honesty, hope, and healing as mother-daughter duo Mandi and Jocelyn Richards share their personal journey of navigating mental health through the lens of both parent and child.
Together, they will explore what it looks like to build stronger relationships, create space for meaningful dialogue, and break down the barriers of stigma that often divide generations.
About Mandi & Jocelyn Richards:
Mandi Richards is a dedicated attorney and proud mother of three, balancing a demanding career with a passion for service. Outside the courtroom, she trains her two golden retrievers as therapy dogs, bringing comfort to schools, libraries, and community spaces. Her greatest joy comes from being a mom to her three children—Jocelyn, Hayden, and Landon.
Jocelyn Richards is a sophomore at Iowa State University studying Early Childhood Education. She began her mental health advocacy journey by founding a Gray Matters chapter at Pleasant Valley High School, and continues to expand her impact today. Jocelyn is passionate about breaking stigma, creating space for youth-led conversations, and reminding her peers that they’re never alone.
Their message is simple but powerful: when parents and teens are willing to show up, listen, and talk openly—together, we rise.
This event is free and open to all. We encourage parents, teens, educators, and community members to attend.
* You do not need to be a part of a Gray Matters chapter to come to this event. All ages 12 and up are welcome. Bring a friend! 🩶
