We invite you to be an architect in our Village Project and help build our community foundation free of stigma and discrimination through knowledge and understanding!
Many people ask what is Safe Zone training and why take it? Simply put, Safe Zone training is an opportunity to learn more about LGBTQ+ identities, gender and sexuality, examine prejudice, assumptions, and privilege in an environment designed for safe and engaged conversation.
Attending a Safe Zone training will allow for deeper familiarity and comfort with vocabulary, gained knowledge of inclusive practices, and an understanding of concepts related to LGBTQ+.
In today’s fast paced world of work, we do not often get a lot of space to talk about LGBTQ+ topics and there is a pressure and expectation to already know the foundational pieces of LGBTQ+ knowledge as well as how to be inclusive. Many of us want to be comfortable with the language, level of understanding, and inclusivity but we just don’t have the knowledge or meaningful exposure.
During Safe Zone training, we will cover topics such as:
* Implicit bias
* Core vocabulary
* Gender, sex, and sexual orientation and the difference between
* Language pertaining to your field
Registration is not required. Please feel free to bring your dinner and join us in learning about LGBTQ+ basics!
