We are excited to host our final RAP Networking workshop for 2025 for Parishes and Communities across the Archdiocese. The workshops provide an opportunity for Parishes and Communities to recommit to Reconciliation.
The Archdiocese of Brisbane is committed to respectfully building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and working to understand their perspectives.
EXPLORE THE DEEP HISTORY OF ABORIGINAL CULTURE AND CARING FOR COUNTRY
This workshop plays a vital role in reconciliation, offering a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, storytelling traditions, and cultural environmental practices across the Sunshine Coast. It highlights the profound spiritual and cultural connection to land and waters, fostering meaningful reflection and engagement.
With special guest:
Kerry Jones. Kerry Jones is a Kabi Kabi man from the Sunshine Coast and a Director of the Bunya Bunya Country Aboriginal Corporation. Since 2016, he has been an applicant for the Kabi Kabi First Nation and has worked with various environmental groups such as Maroochy Waterwatch. Kerry is passionate about reintroducing traditional fire management practices and values collaboration with partners to support Kabi Kabi leadership in this field.
This will be an opportunity to listen with an open heart, learn and engage in meaningful conversations, as we move forward on the shared journey of reconciliation and unity.
Followed by an info session about implementing the RAP with a focus on Action 11 - increase inclusiveness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in public access areas.

Cost: Donations welcomed – all proceeds will go towards sponsoring Elders in communities a seat at the Reconciliation dinner

This is a chance to come together and work on a way forward to chart a path to deliver meaningful results through our RAP by:
- Supporting RAP initiatives that promote truth-telling and reconciliation.
- Engaging in actions that build bridges and true reconciliation, respect and unity.
- Sharing ideas, resources, and tools to engage with parishes and communities to action the RAP deliverables and developing a support network.
