MOBILE, ALABAMA, September 19, 2025 – USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park will host a POW/MIA Candlelight Ceremony on Friday evening, September 19, in honor of National POW/MIA Recognition Day. The ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the park's grounds at
7:00 p.m. and will be conducted by the South Alabama Veterans Council.
The evening will include the lowering of the American and POW/MIA flag by the Boy Scouts Troop 87,
Assisted by the P. L. Wilson Detachment MCL, and the POW/MIA Table Ceremony presented by the Boy Scouts Troop 87, followed by the lighting of individual candles. Guest speaker will be Frank Ready, USA Vietnam Veteran. The ceremony will honor those service men and women who were held captive and returned and those service men and women who still remain missing in action. Information on the POW/MIAs from the State of Alabama will be given to all attendees, along with information on National POW/MIA Recognition Day. The Ceremony will conclude with a special song by Country Music Artist Zachary Thomas Diedrich,
The POW/MIA Candlelight Ceremony is free of charge, and the public is invited to attend.
