The History Museum of Mobile’s upcoming Learning Lunch Program is on Wednesday, August 13th at 12 PM and will feature Mollie Smith Waters, professor at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. The title of her presentation will be Alabama Cemeteries and Symbols.
A teacher for 26 years, Mollie Smith Waters is a professor of composition, literature, theater, humanities, and speech at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Greenville. Waters writes for various publications including The Greenville Standard, Encyclopedia of Alabama, and Alabama Heritage. She has an upcoming book tentatively titled Historic Resting Places of Alabama, which will be published by Reedy Press in spring 2026. Waters also recently starred as Miss Stephanie in the Monroeville production of To K*ll a Mockingbird; she looks forward to being in the show again next year. During her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, traveling, hiking, mountain biking, and walking. She is married to Ronald Waters, and they share a son, Reagan; a daughter, Katelin; and a new granddaughter, Evie. She is also a pup mom to Chunk and Nico.
The History Museum of Mobile invites the public to attend the free Learning Lunch lecture series. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy a presentation on an historical or cultural topic.
