100 Alumni Drive, Mobile, United States
Join us at the University of South Alabama MacQueen Alumni Center for an exciting event to network and learn more about violence prevention. Violence is a public health issue that impacts everyone, though geographic disparities exist. Particularly, the Southeastern United States has a disproportionate burden of firearm-related homicides, higher than any other region in the country. In this unique space, with deep-seated social disparities, classism and limited resources, innovative and multi-layered reduction strategies are needed to address this complex issue.
To this end, leaders of several existing and emerging hospital-based and community-based violence intervention programs in the Southeastern US are joining forces. The purpose of this Consortium of Southeast Regional VIPs (CoSERV) is to more effectively meet the needs of the region by developing tailored evidence-based strategies and strengthening support systems, surveillance, services and evaluation to ultimately reduce violence on a broader scale.
