Love as an Act of Being – A Lecture Performance by Lisa Stertz

SomoS Arts is pleased to announce the Love as an Act of Being – a lecture performance

by Berlin-based artist and performer Lisa Stertz.

Lisa Stertz returns to SomoS with a new edition of her seminal work on love first

presented in 2015. Titled Love as an Act of Being. The evening will reflect on the

enduring and ever-evolving question: What is love?

Drawing inspiration from Erich Fromm’s The Art of Loving which highlights the paradox

between love’s immense promise and its frequent failure Stertz revisits her earlier inquiries into

love not as a fleeting emotion or ideal but as a living human activity—something to be

practiced embodied and lived.

The event marks the 10-year anniversary of Stertz’s seminal original performance series and will combine spoken word live performance movement and photo documentation.

Through these media Stertz opens a space for reflection and experience encouraging the audience to see love as a resilient force—one that continues to deserve our presence and commitment.
