Garden head sculpture planter 2 day workshop
Saturday 9 Aug 2025 10 am- 4pm and Sunday 10th August 10am-4pm

Create a unique large garden sculpture planter guided by Rebecca

Suitable for all abilities
Freshly cooked lunch included
£236 for a 2 day workshop which includes booking fee, 2 days tutoring, lunch, all materials, firing and glazing costs.
Finished head sculptures/planters are frost-proof and typically 40cmx25cm

During this 2 day workshop Rebecca will guide you through a step by step process to create your own large, frost-proof, garden head sculpture/planter using slab building, pattern making, sculpting and joining techniques

Day 1. Construct head sculpture using stoneware sculpting clay using templates provided with Rebecca's guidance. Then give your sculpture it's unique character and facial features. You can also add leafy hanging earrings or a bird to perch on top.

Day 2. Finishing and joining elements of sculpture and refining facial features. Applying coloured clay slips and oxides of your choice.

Your finished head will then be fired to stoneware temperature in my kiln at my studio (SP11 0JH) ready for you to collect within 2 –3 weeks.



Getting there

Arrival time is 10am at The Barn (no need to arrive early)

The Barn is a spacious, rustic beamed building which makes for a wonderful creative space. It is on the Andover Newbury road (A343) in the village of Hurstbourne Tarrant.

Parking

Parking on site is limited to disabled parking only. There is plenty of parking available along Church Street which is the turning off the main road next to The George and Dragon pub. PLEASE DO NOT PARK in The Rural Business Hub opposite as it is reserved for Hub users only.

What to bring

During the colder months the fire will be lit and The Barn gets toasty and warm. However, it can be cool first thing in the morning so bring extra layers just in case. Also bring along an apron as you may get messy.

Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.
