This two-day immersive workshop with Asal Lebaschi and Ali Kalantary invites you into the sacred practice of Sema — the meditative whirling known from the Sufi dervishes — as a pathway to inner stillness, connection, and transformation. Inspired by the spiritual teachings of Jalal ad-Din Rumi, we explore Sema not as performance, but as a way of being.
Through movement, breath, poetry, and shared presence, we enter a space of gentle attention and surrender — listening to the body, the heart, and the silence between words.
Day One: Foundations & First Steps (July 19, 2-7pm)
We begin by arriving together in a welcoming circle. You'll be introduced to Rumi’s life and the philosophy behind Sema. After grounding breathwork and body preparation, you’ll learn the basic elements of the whirling practice in a supportive and mindful way. Poetry and live or recorded music accompany our steps.
Day Two: Deepening the Practice (July 20, 2-7pm)
The second day offers space to integrate and embody. We’ll engage in a longer guided Sema session supported by poetry and music, followed by sharing and reflection.
No previous experience is needed — all are welcome.
This workshop is an invitation to turn — into stillness, into presence, into the heart. No one turned away.

Ein zweitägiger Workshop mit Asal Lebaschi und Ali Kalantary, der dich in die heilige Drehtanzpraxis der Sufi-Derwische führt – inspiriert von der Poesie und Spiritualität Rumis.
Durch Bewegung, Atem, Musik und Worte öffnen wir einen Raum für Stille, Verbindung und innere Wandlung.
Auf Spendenbasis für die Iranische und Palästinensische Community in Berlin, und für alle Menschen, die zusammenkommen möchten und die einen Ort suchen, um ihrer Trauer Raum zu geben.
In diesem Wochenende geht es um mehr als nur das Erlernen des Drehtanzes. Es geht darum uns zu zeigen, dass wir als Menschen zusammengehören und einem Für- und Miteinander.
Es ist keine Vorerfahrung nötig – alle sind willkommen.
