πŸ“£ We invite you to the 15th conference within the Genealogies of Memory on β€˜What remains from the Second World War? Remnants, Memories and Narratives Revisited.’
πŸ“ The conference will take place in Berlin at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences on 17 – 19 September 2025.

❓ Has the Second World War ever truly ended? While the battles ceased decades ago, its material and cultural remnants continue to shape memory, identity, and historical narratives. From architectural ruins to intergenerational trauma, from contested narratives to digital memory practices, the war’s afterlife persists in both tangible and symbolic forms.
πŸ”Ž This conference explores the materiality of memory, rethinking post-war memory cultures in light of contemporary challenges, including Russia’s war against Ukraine. Through interdisciplinary dialogue, we examine how the War’s legacy endures and evolves, shaping European memory cultures in the present.
