Preserving and Remembering: Figures in the Park + Tea and Dry Biscuits
Advertisement
Stroll through a very special sculpture park in the west of Berlin and celebrate the memory of a great sculptor.
We start with a visit to the Figures in the Park - Foundation of Heidi & Dieter Brusberg with the DRK Kliniken Berlin Westend, where we are given a dedicated tour by the curator and chairwoman, Dr Eva Morawietz. The aim of the foundation is to preserve the sculptures - by Leiko Ikemura, Dietrich Klinge, Alexander Polzin and others - at this location and to enable visitors to the clinic park to encounter the art: as an open and lively exhibition, challenging and meaningful.
We continue to the Georg Kolbe Museum, where Dr Elisa Tamaschke, Curator, Head of Exhibitions, Research and Publications, introduces us to the anniversary exhibition Tea and Dry Biscuits with works by Heike Kabisch, Laure Prouvost and Marion Verboom, among others. The exhibition focuses on the staging of memory and examines remembrance in its various - private and public - forms. Contemporary artists open up a variety of perspectives on the past and present through their own reflections on the subject.
At Café Bejamine - in good weather, in the garden of Kolbe's former home and studio - we will then come together for a convivial showroom and have the opportunity to exchange ideas.
