Learn how to paint light and shadow from studying a simple still life.

About this Event

This is a three day workshop. the dates and times are:

October 3rd and 4th, 10am-12:30pm

October 5th, 12pm-2:30pm

Participants will learn the basic building blocks of painting anything realistically from observation. Techniques we will cover include form building, texture blending, and finishing surface details. Leave with a beautiful finished painting perfect for a gift, or to hang in your home.

Materials needed: small gessoed painting panels, assorted brushes, linseed oil, paint-cups, palette, palette knife, Silicoil glass jar, oil paints- Ivory Black or Raw Umber, Titanium White, Alizeran Crimson, Cadmium Red, Sap Green, Cadmium Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, and any other preferred pigments.

About the Artist:

Christopher Taulbee is a Cincinnati based artist. Named “Emerging Artist of the Year” and “Floral Artist of the Year” by ADC gallery, Chris’ paintings have garnered both local and regional awards. Taking inspiration from his interactions with nature, Chris uses large scale oil painting to transform the gallery space enlarging floral subjects to a proportion that is both mesmerizing and immersive. He can be spotted around Cincinnati’s Great Parks painting from observation, and teaches at various arts centers in Cincinnati.
