Join us this summer for our 'Table Talks' workshop and dinner series at the Youth Garden Project!
We will be hosting two workshops this summer designed for garden-based learning and community gathering. Each workshop will include a ~1 hour talk and a garden-fresh, themed dinner! Registration is $20 per person per workshop, and seating is limited. Reserve your spot today at www.youthgardenproject.org/workshops.
July 23 - Earthly Delights: Common Edible Weeds
Explore the culinary possibilities of weeds with Melisa Morgan! We’ll discuss what makes a “W**d,” how these common plants might shape a more food-secure and diet-diverse future, and play with ways to eat, drink, and prepare edible and medicinal weeds found in the YGP gardens.
Melisa Morgan (she/they) is an artist, cultural worker, and flower farmer from Flint, Michigan. Her most recent project, “No Bad Plants,” explores the idea of native and invasive plants through collaborations with botanists, conservationists, and herbalists. See more of her work at mlsamrgn.com.
August 13 – Honey Bees: An Evening of Foraging
Join us for evening of foraging – into honey bee lore and dishes based on honey and seasonal fare. Includes an in-depth discussion of honey bees and beekeeping with Jerry Shue, interspersed with several culinary courses prepared by the YGP staff.
We hope to see you at one (or both!) of these workshops! 🌞🌱
