Cave Poetry Featuring New Mexico Beat Poet Laureate (2024-2026) P.W. Covington

Natural Poet Society will be hosting New Mexico Beat Poet Laureate (2024-2026) P.W. Covington for Cave Poetry at Donaldson Cave in Spring Mills State Park in Mitchell, IN.

The park fee is $7 to IN Residents. We have park passes so if cost is a hindrance we can arrange for a carpool spot.

For the poetry part of the event: we will gather at noon at the Donaldson Cave parking lot (first left from the park entrance) and sign safety forms to begin making our trek down to the cave opening.

There are about 150 steps leading down to Donaldson, but otherwise a short hike to the cave.

This is a walk-in cave so caving gear is not required if you are just planning on just attending the poetry reading. We will gather in the cave, listen to our featured poet, and then allow a "round robin" Open Mic to whoever wants to share.

The cave is dark, we will be able to provide some head lamps, but a flashlight is recommended.

If heavy rain affects the area, the walk into the cave will be cancelled.

For Caving: TBD on a walk-through Cave trip, we are awaiting a reply for a permit and will promptly update this page with that information.
