The Art of Remembrance: A Día de los Muertos Workshop

Join the ZACC and the Confluence Center for The Art of Remembrance: A Día de los Muertos Workshop - a full-day, hands-on experience for kids of all ages celebrating Mexican tradition and artistry.

On Thursday, October 16, from 9 AM to 4 PM, you’ll learn how to make tissue paper flowers (flores de papel) and papel picado, two meaningful decorations used in Día de los Muertos altars. Guided by a family from Manzanillo, Colima, and a first-generation Mexican American with Oaxacan roots, you’ll not only create beautiful art but also learn the cultural significance behind these vibrant crafts.

Many of the creations will become part of a community altar at Headwaters Foundation, connecting our shared stories of remembrance and love.
