The Memorial Float creates the space for remembering lost loved ones while raising funds for coldwater conservation in Montana, where the rivers are a healing place for all. The event celebrates the beautiful adventure of life with friends and family and contributes – in a meaningful way – to the healthy and sustainable legacy Montana’s rivers provide. We would like to invite you to join us on Saturday, August 16thin remembering all of those who have left us, knowing that they are never truly lost as we continue to honor their impact on our lives.
The concept is simple. “Purchase” a boat by making a donation to Montana Trout Unlimited in honor of your loved one and BRO guides donate their time to a day on the water for one to two anglers. Some people fish. Others just take in the scenery. Another option is to make a donation and bring your own boat. Both options include your shuttle, coffee/snacks at the shop pre-launch, a shore lunch in the boat and a casual BBQ supper at MTU headquarters when the float wraps. The day is informal with folks meeting in the morning, some floating in tandem, some solo (up to you) and then coming together for food, drink, toasts and good memories as the sun sets.
All proceeds from the event benefit MTU’s coldwater conservation work in MT. Whether you join us that day or not, you can also purchase an etched river rock with the name of your loved one, and request that it be placed in the river on float day (we’ll send you a photo).
To reserve your float, make a donation, or purchase an etched river rock, please select the appropriate level in the form below. You can also mail your contribution to us Montana Trout Unlimited, PO Box 7186, Missoula, MT 59807. Each boat is available to two anglers only. Please include the names of the anglers in your boat in the donation notes. If you are interested in bringing your own boat and self-guiding, please select the $300 donation below or send a check.
If you aren’t able to float, you can still support this event through the donation levels below. You can also purchase a memorial etched river rock with the name of someone you would like to honor. Select the River Rock item below and include the desired engraving in the donation notes.
