Avalanche Safety Roundtable & Field Day

Review of avalanche safety. We will hit on these topics: reading the forecasts, appling the forecast to trip planning, red flags, varieties of field tests, and reading test results. This round table is meant to be a refresher of skills. I am not a mountain guide and probably have an equivalent education on these topics as most of you. That said, come out and contribute what you can and sharpen those skills before winter gets into gear.(This round table is required if you plan on attending the field day on the 20th.)

Freestone Climbing Center- Second Floor- walk in front door and just ask the folks at front desk for directions. Feel free to bring food and drink.


The Field Day takes place on Saturday, December 20th:

Lolo Pass visitor center. Getting out and refreshing our avy skills. We will tour around and practice ECT pits, beacon searches, field observations, and group rescues. I am not a mountain guide and probably have an equivalent education on these topics as most of you, but as a community it is our duty to be safe and keep these skills sharp. Come out and let's practice safe mountain travel.
