Viking Round Shield Workshop

Get ready for RenFest!

In this TWO SESSION hands-on take and make class, participants will learn how to craft their own Viking Round Shield! Each shield will be 36" in diameter, made with cedar planks, with a stainless steel shield boss, edging made from synthetic leather and sinew cord, a handle, and a shoulder strap. All materials provided.

Participants must be able to attend both sessions - Saturday July 12 (3-9pm) and Sunday July 13 (11am-6pm, with a break for lunch). Once shield construction is complete, the instructor will discuss approaches for applying a design, including painting, laser etching, and wood burning paste with stencils.
