About the event

Siama's Congo Roots

Musicians Siama Matuzungidi and Dallas Johnson will perform music from Matuzungidi’s home county of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In this interactive workshop, the duo will share information on a wide variety of traditional African instruments, including the guitar, drum, balafon, and mbira. They will also teach everyone to sing songs in Lingala and Kikongo, as well as in popular Congolese singing styles, such as repeating, call and response, layering, and yodeling. All ages.
