Samba, Swing and Soul! WPK presents a Fresh Take on Jazz Standards

The WPK Trio presents an enticing mix of straight-ahead jazz and Brazilian stylings, as well as funky soul influences as they explore the Great American Songbook, as well as a few surprises. The trio (Mark Weisberg, Michael Pilhofer, Phil Kadidlo) will engage in spirited musical conversation with the vocal stylings of Judi Vinar.

Mark Weisberg has played with many local jazz artists including Debbie Duncan, Prudence Johnson, Dennis Spears, Patty Peterson, T. Michael Rambo, Fred Steele, JD Steele, Mary Louise Knutson, and Ginger Commodore Quartet (GCQ). While living in Detroit, he previously played with Earl Klugh, Phyllis Hyman and Marcus Belgrade.

Michael Pilhofer has been a top call drummer in the Twin Cities for over 30 years.

Phil Kadidlo on piano and keyboards has accompanied many local artists including Prudence Johnson, Bruce Henry, Patty Peterson and Wayne Anthony.

Judi Vinar has been been singing in the Twin Cities since 1989, including regular appearances with the Wolverines Classic Jazz Orchestra, JazzMN Orchestra, Lori Dokken presentations, The Girls, and most recently with acclaimed guitarists Pat Donohue and Dean Magraw. She has toured internationally with Bobby McFerrin as a member of “Voicestra” and “Gimme5” since 2001.
