About the event

Sacred Creativity Retreat- Labor Day Weekend
Sacred Creativity Retreat - Labor Day Weekend
5:00p FRIDAY, AUGUST 29 - 1:00p SUNDAY, AUGUST 31
COLLEGEVILLE, MN - ST. JOHN'S UNIVERSITY
at Episcopal House of Prayer Retreat Center

Join Kate Lucas + Tracy Vacura for a unique retreat that will honor the sacred alone time of embodied creative practice and the emergence of new life through that work.

Approach: Sometimes our creative energy mostly needs a container in which to grow, and the structured space and time of the weekend will help us all to tend our inner spark. Along with some inspiration and tools, we will have ample quiet time for the solitary act of creating. Shared meals and discussions will provide time to connect with community to share about our creative process. Yoga, mindfulness and meditation practices that will ground and support our creative work will be woven through out the weekend.

This retreat will honor creative practice as an embodied spiritual practice, in the spirit of the Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, who writes that “there is an underlying, in-dwelling creative force infusing all of life.” All of us are creative beings, though our culture may have told us otherwise. Exploring our creativity can bring union and wholeness, just as our yoga practice does. We will include plenty of time devoted to lighting our creative fires, with options to write, draw, paint, build, sew, etc.—or maybe you have the seeds of your own specific creative work that has been waiting for the right space and time to be planted.
Location: Near Collegeville MN, the Episcopal House of Prayer offers a spectacular opportunity to be surrounded by beauty. The building’s architecture was carefully designed to invite in views of the tall maple grove which surrounds it. We’ll use their special circular room with a round skylight for yoga practice and enjoy the remarkable acoustics for singing bowl rituals. Walking in the grove will be encouraged (but not required ).

Wondering about the location? Go to https://ehouseofprayer.org/host/ and scroll down to find the photo gallery.

Cost: $395 includes 2 nights of Lodging in a private room, complimentary tea + coffee, and all meals. Our yoga sessions and all other activities are also included in the cost.

This special Labor Day Retreat will emphasize connection through creativity and community. We will have a very spacious schedule with time to use as you choose in the beautiful supported retreat space. We will also offer some community connections times - yoga/movement practices each morning and night, outdoor mindfulness, guided writing activities, and coming together around food.

If you would like to share a room with someone, please contact us and we'll see if we can accommodate. Because EHOP charges per person, we are not able to offer discounts for sharing bedrooms.

Please note that the 2 bathrooms are shared among us, but they are spacious and quite nice. This is a very well-kept retreat center that leans more towards simplified beauty + practicality than monastic acestism.

There are 2 unique opportunities on this retreat because of the Labor Day holiday:

1. You can choose to stay until Monday Sept 1st for an additional $75 if you desire more quiet time. The retreat will officially end 1 pm Sunday, so you will be on your for activities and food, but you are invited to continue to use the spaces until 1 pm Monday if you desire.

2. The other unique aspect is that we will have a creative-themed potluck on Friday night to help introduce ourselves (and practice alliteration!). We'll build simple breakfasts + lunches from ample delicious supplies, and our Saturday dinner will be catered. EHOP practices service in action - so each member of the community pitches in for dishwashing or food prep (usually one or two 15 minute shift per weekend) Working together is a great way for us to get to know each other as well. We can also easily accommodate food sensitivities and allergies--just let us know.

$395 - private bedroom and all retreat amenities for 2 nights
$470 - Additional night on Sunday August 31st for 3 night stay ($395+$75)
