Minneapolis trio Malamiko describes their sound as βshoegaze-informed Midwest emotional hardcoreβ β a convoluted way of saying βkind of, but not reallyβ. Their words reflect the experiences of living through an era oversaturated with cynicism, irony, technology, and apocalypse sermons. Their debut album All Pleasant Dreams was released through Tern & Crow in spring 2024.
Ben Seretan never does anything halfway. His records are either filled-to-bursting with sounds, ideas, and personal mythology, erupting into catchy choruses and half-screamed mantras, or theyβre patient and unfurling, lyric-less and sprawling. Recently signed to Tiny Engines, the label is proud to reissue 2020's breakthrough album Youth Pastoral, a towering album of guitar clouds recorded straight through over three nights in summer, sunset to sunrise. The new "Deluxe" edition includes a new run of vinyl, a new master, a handful of never-before-heard demos, outtakes, and b-sides, plus newly commissioned album art by designer Alex Tatusian.
Spaceport began as a secret creative outlet for multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Arianna Wegley. The personal project grew into a band when longtime friends Todd Olson (drums) and Liam Moore (bass) joined to record their debut album, Window Seat. Blending the energy of indie rock with experimental textures and rich orchestrations, they follow their hearts and create music thatβs catchy, playful, and sincere. Since releasing Window Seat in March 2023, their music has been featured on local and national radio, including The Current, Radio K, KFAI, and college stations across the country.Rooted in many corners of their local music community, theyβve become a fixture in the Twin Cities, even opening for Dead Man Winter at the iconic First Avenue Mainroom. They are currently finishing their sophomore LP, recorded at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, and Salon Sonics in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
