Join us for our recurring biweekly folk jam, where we're building a culture of art and resistance as working class musicians! DM for address if you need it.
We sit around in a circle, taking turns leading songs. You don't have to lead if you don't want to. It's good form to run through the chord progression quickly so others can play along. More experienced players are asked to be patient with and help along less-experienced players. Less experienced players are asked to use good judgement about whether they're able to follow along with the song, or if it's beyond their skill level.
We mostly do folk/roots and adjacent genres: folk, folk punk, Americana, bluegrass, Old Time, the blues, Dixieland jazz, Irish trad, klezmer, etc etc etc. Other genres are welcome, but our amplification is minimal.
The crowd at Circle of Song tends to lean politically very hard to the anti-authoritarian left. Protest and rebel music is a norm here.
The night often evolves naturally into conversation. Non-players are welcome.
Alcohol and 420 friendly. Imbibe responsibly if you imbibe. If you cannot drive home safely, please ask us to make the guest room ready for you.
