Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, Ilsa (Bergman) walks into Rick’s (Bogart’s)—a haven for those seeking travel papers that will help them escape from Morocco to America. Still one of the great American films of the twentieth century, Casablanca is gorgeously photographed, meticulously directed, and simmering with romance. And Nazis get punched. We love that part.
