Befriending Anger with Laure Schwartz, MA, LPC

Anger has gotten a bad rap. Anger and rage are quite different. How and why? Sometimes anger has been considered a secondary emotion, as if it is a valueless emotion. Instead, anger signals from the depths of the Self that something isn’t quite right. What happens when we see anger as a less-than-desirable emotion? Where does it go? How does anger get stuck in the body when resisted or rejected? As a therapist, you should understand how you experience and embrace (or do not embrace) anger. In this Somatic Experiencing-based workshop, learn how to befriend anger and help your clients move from judging their anger to staying curious about it. Anger could be the very healing agent your client needs!

Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to describe how trauma can be released through the anger energy left in the body using Somatic Experiencing techniques.
Participants will be able to describe the difference between anger, rage, and manipulation through aggression.
Participants will experience a live demonstration of using somatic therapy.
Participants will reflect on their relationship to anger.

This training will be in-person, virtual and recorded. It is highly advised that you attend in person to get the most value out of the somatic demo. It is approved for 2 CEUs by the following boards: Social Work, Psychology, MFT, and Behavioral Health and Therapy.
