トランプ大統領の就任以来、最近中国との関税戦争が勃発し、日本も自動車等の基幹産業が巻き込まれ、世界景気全体に打撃を与えるのではという懸念が列島を覆う今日この頃ですが、みなさんはいかがお過ごしでしょうか。そういった大変動の中、ますます我々一人一人の真実を見抜く洞察力が試されていると言えます。
さて、2001年創立の「東京多色文化の会」（通称ポリカル）ですが、自らの文化的多様性を高めつつ、年齢、言語、性別、職業、階層を超えて「異なるもの」と成長する多色文化を目指し24年間継続しています。世界の分断が進行する今ほど、ポリカル的理念が必要とされていると思われます。
6月のポリカルチャーのレクチャーディナーは、ソニーの歴代会長を右腕として支えた、遠山ジェームス雅夫さんをゲストに開催します。コロンビア大MBAを取得、ソニー、エリクソン、アメックス、ドローンのDJI等の多国籍企業を経て、Uber執行役員として新規市場開拓等で業績を残されました。
現在は自ら起業したJMT ドローンツアーの代表取締役として活躍中です。そんなジェームスさんには、貫いてきた自身のポリカル的生き方と世界観、そして日本がこれから目指すべき方向性について熱く語って頂きます。みなさんの奮ってのご参加をお待ちしております。

挫折の繰り返しから、いろいろな方と出会い、学び続けています。年功序列、終身雇用の安定した、サラリーマン人生から離脱し、実力主義の外資系で、もはやこれまでという経験を繰り返し、成果を出すことに喜びを感じています。旅行業では、ドローンツーリズムの実現を目指して、飛行訓練、旅行業務の勉強を続けています。滝、ダム湖の空撮ツアーを企画実施しました。麻布消防団水防訓練では、ドローンによる空撮を行いました。

Since President Trump took office, a tariff war with China has recently broken out, and concerns that Japan's key industries such as automobiles will also be drawn into it, leading to a big blow to the entire global economy, have spread across the archipelago. In the midst of such upheaval, I hope this will find you well & fit and am sure that the insight of each of us to see the truth is being tested more and more.
Club Polyculture Tokyo (commonly known as Policaru) was founded in 2001 and has since been in operation for 24 years with the idea of growing with "differences" by nurturing diversity within oneself to weave a multi-coloured society transcending age, language, gender, occupation and class. Now that the world is becoming more divided as we are now witnessing in the Sino-American tariff wars and the real wars in Ukraine and Palestine, the philosophy of "Polyculture" seems more needed than ever.
The Polyculture lecture dinner in June will feature Mr. James Masao Toyama, who supported Sony's past presidents as their right-hand man. He obtained an MBA from Columbia University, and after working for multinational companies such as Sony, Ericsson, American Express, and drone manufacturer DJI, he achieved a success in developing new markets as an executive officer at Uber.
He is currently the CEO of JMT Drone Tours, a company he started himself. James will passionately talk about his polycultural way of life and worldview, and the direction Japan should aim for in the future. I bet it will be an eye-opening session. We look forward to your active participation.

・While working at Sony, he obtained an MBA from Columbia University. He has been posted to the US twice. After that, he worked as a public relations manager, sales director, and executive officer at a multinational company expanding new business in the Japanese market.
・He has worked at Ericsson in the communications field, American Express in finance, DJI in drones, and Uber Japan in apps.
・After obtaining a travel agency management license, he became an executive officer at Uber and developed a new market for taxi dispatch as a custom package tour and arranged tour.

・I have met many different people/matters through repeated setbacks and learned many lessons which finally lead me to leave a stable, seniority-based, lifetime employment-based salaryman life to work for a meritocratic foreign company.
I overcame many desparate experiences reaching to a point of almost nowhere and now feel a great joy in producing results.
・In the travel industry I continued to study flight training and travel business with the aim of realising drone tourism.
・Planned and implemented aerial photography tours of waterfalls and dam lakes, using drones to take aerial photos at the Azabu Fire Department's flood prevention training.

I've known James for over 40 years. Perhaps because we both worked and lived overseas for a long time, we always bumped into each other at a bar near Lake Léman in Geneva in Switzerland or a bar near the Hudson River in New York. And it was an unbelievable coincidence. The two of us are the epitome of serendipity. It's half creepy (lol), but this friendship is a very precious part of my life, and I want to continue to cherish it. Starting with James' presentation, let's have a great discussion about the turbulent & demonised Trump 2.0 world and our future. First-time participants in Polyculture are also welcome.
