Third Saturdays on Elk Rock Island are in full swing! Come join with nature-lovers from across the community in helping to clear ivy and other invasive plants, pick up trash, and otherwise give some TLC to this gem along the Willamette. Never fear, if the water is too high to get across to the island, we'll work in Spring Park.
We gather at Spring Park (19th and Sparrow) at 9:30am. Please bring your work gloves, your favorite tool(s), and your water bottle. Please wear shoes appropriate for rough terrain.
Parking is limited, so please consider carpooling or, better yet, coming on foot or by bike.
We typically work for a couple of hours, then local naturalist Mart Hughes, who has been engaging on Elk Rock Island for over 30 years, usually gives a little guided walk to highlight some of the rare plants or other little secrets of the island.
