Rooting for you - Violet Scrap

A review of everything earthy; in an attempt to become all things different, our dance sometimes can forget where it comes from, that is: from the hips. Here we'll see how to
dive in, so to speak, the dirt of belly dance, to tap onto the quintessential gravity of our
hips and our bellies.
Turkish Oryantal - Süreya
1:30pm - 3:30pm (1 spot left)
A mixture of techniques, short routine and theory are all covered in this workshop so that students can understand the differences between Turkish Oryantal and other styles. We also look at theory and the roots of this style. Fun, dramatic with lots of energy and Turkish attitude!
The Science of the Stop - Violet Scrap
4pm - 6pm - SOLD OUT!
A little bridge between improvisation and technique, this workshop is a focus on the
different ways we can “stop” our body while dancing, how we transit from one direction to
another, and how to accelerate and suddenly change speed, with a scientific urge for
precision.
Sunday 11th May
Choreo Not Choreo - Violet Scrap
9:30an - 11:30am (SOLD OUT)
We give for granted that a choreo is made of movement. Instead, a composition is only a pre-decided succession of things, that can be movement, ideas, images etc. So can we make a choreography out of ideas only?
