May Half Term Open Mornings

Visit Howe Park Wood during the May half term holidays to access to the Education Centre and take part in activities. The centre is free to visit and is family-friendly. Drop-in anytime between 9:30am-12:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

This week's theme is ‘Caring for our Woodlands’ so come along to take part in free activities to learn more about the life of these plants, the wildlife that relies on them and what we do to help the woodlands thrive. Learn how to identify a tree by its leaves, find out how plants ‘travel’ and take part in a woodland trail. On Thursday, some of The Parks Trust team will be there to demonstrate a chainsaw and chipper, and we may even have a tractor (the latter is dependent on availability).

Howe Park Wood is one of the city’s jewels, a tranquil oasis, humming with wildlife and colour. As well as being home to a wide variety of wildlife, Howe Park Wood boasts more than 200 plant species, some so rare that English Nature has designated it a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its wildlife value.
