High Performance Driving Experience (HPDE) is organized in an enclosed track circuit with strict driving regulations and on track passing rules.
The 1.9 mile northern circuit is known as Lightning Raceway. This 10 corner circuit is fast and challenging featuring some of the most interesting and dramatic corners and elevation changes in the park. The 20 acre paddock area has a 4 acre skid pad and autocross area, as well as concession areas, timing towers and school and drivers meeting room facilities.
This is 1 day driving experience where registered guests and participants bring their own vehicles to drive in agreement with instructor’s assistance/guidance, vehicle condition, monitoring, and are grouped by driver’s track experience and ability to maneuver their high-performance vehicles at high speeds around the enclosed circuit.
Driver’s experience ranges from Novice, Intermediate, and Advance. This grouping procedure is completed prior to date of event with Q&A from organizer.
This is NOT a competition of any kind and we DO NOT PROMOTE or CONDONE any form of competition or interactive racing at our events.
At our events, INCLUDED are professional photography, catered lunch for all registered drivers, event souvenirs, hotel discount, sponsor discount, and other event giveaways/special features.
(NO REFUNDS will be issued as our events are rain or shine events). First come first serve basis as limited registrations are available to prevent over registered drivers/vehicles for each event.
Driver’s License: All Drivers must have a valid Driver’s License and be at least 18 years of age to participate. You will be asked to present your Driver’s License at the track. Please be sure to bring documentation regarding track experience or any race license you have obtained in order to verify your experience and certification to instruct.
*Registered entry is per driver. Unregistered driver IS NOT PERMITTED to drive at any given time during the event.
*Passengers ARE NOT PERMITTED unless he/she is a certified instructor approved by NJMP.
No admission fees for spectators (INVITES ONLY).
Helmet Requirement: A SNELL M or SA rated helmet dated 2015 or newer is required for all drivers and passengers on the track. NJMP does provide rentals if requested. *DOT helmets (*with proper SNELL rated 2015 or newer helmets) are permitted.
Long pants and long sleeve shirts are required. Proper athletic sneakers, driving shoes, closed toe shoes must be worn. No sandals, boots, and high heels are permitted for registered drivers.
Each track session will be approximately 20 minutes and each track session will consist approximately 25-30 cars.
Track running hours is from 9am-12pm, 1pm-6pm. (1-hour lunch break 12-1pm).
Time of Vehicle Tech Inspection is at 7AM SHARP with Mandatory Drivers Briefing/Track Tour to begin at 8AM.
***Tech: A tech inspection is required for each car prior to accessing the race course. An NJMP/trackXperienz official will tech your car the morning of the event, but please view the tech form prior to then in order to be sure your car is adequately prepared.
***Tech Inspection sheets MUST be signed by a certified mechanic or certified mechanic shop. Completed forms must be brought to tech inspection on the morning of the event.
All cars going on track will be required to have a number on their vehicle.
Open Top Cars: Must have approved rollover protection. Please contact the track director for additional information and consult chapter 62.
*NO Electric or Hybrid Vehicles, NO SUVs, No Crossover Vehicles are permitted at NJMP.
Speed Limits: Speed limit in the paddock is 5 mph. Speed limit on access roads is 25 mph. Do not test vehicles or bed brakes on infield roads.
Damage: Registered drivers, participants, and their guests, are responsible for any damage to NJMP property including on track and off track.
Fuel: For the convenience of participants, New Jersey Motorsports Park houses fuel stations at both the Thunderbolt and Lightning Raceways. On most track days the fuel stations are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The fuel station at Thunderbolt Raceway offers octanes of 93 & 100 (unleaded) and 110 & 112 (leaded), while the station at Lightning Raceway offers 93 & 100 (unleaded) and 110 (leaded). The fuel stations are permitted to fill containers in proper five-gallon red fuel cans only, per New Jersey state law. Larger fuel containers of 10 gallons or more (any color) are permitted to be used as long as as they are marked appropriately (stickers or writing on container that reads “FUEL”).
Trailer Drops: Trailer drops are typically allowed from 7-10 p.m., but there are occasions when this is not possible due to events taking place at the facility. Please contact NJMP if you would like to drop a trailer the day before your event.
*DO NOT arrive late to circuit. (*drivers/participants who misses the morning driver's meeting/briefing at 8am WILL NOT be permitted on the track until after lunch break). It is VERY IMPORTANT for all registered drivers to be in attendance without fail. Those who miss the drivers briefing will miss the announcement of event format, scheduling, flags presentation, on track passing rules, and other related event updates.
Driver run groups will be assigned based on driver's past track experience in Novice (Green), Intermediate (White), and Advanced (Red).
*On Track Passing for all groups are ONLY permitted based on "POINT BYs" (no exception to this rule as both warning flags and verbal warnings by track officials will be given and dismissals from the event and track facility will be issued). Details will be covered during the morning drivers meeting.

NJMP Pro Shop will be open at 8:00 AM and will have helmet rentals available for $30.00 each.

WARNING: The use of illegal drugs, alcohol, and any type of illegal substance usage are strictly prohibited during the event and on the track facility. Individuals caught in violation of any of the above will be immediately dismissed from the event and property of NJMP.
