Come get some Centre County-Grown Acoustic Succotash! Fiddle and congas + bass and drums + vocal harmonies, seasoned with mandolin, guitar, and a hope for better days. Lineup: Eric Ian Farmer (vox/acoustic guitar) featuring Elizabeth Webb (vox), Michael Christie (drums), Mickey Klein (electric bass), Nevaris (congas), and Stephen Buckalew (violin/mandolin)
Eric Ian, a bass who dresses up like a tenor, will likely be sipping hot tea and honey throughout the show -- no matter the temps outside -- to push out melodies tender and tough. Elizabeth's finely tuned ear will ensure her vocal harmonies are snug. Stephen will be soaring through the higher registers with his fiddle and mandolin. And the rhythm section of Mickey, Michael, and Nevaris will be way down there with the lint: deep in the pocket. On stage, the salt lamp will be aglow.
The set will feature interpretations of classics by Richie Havens, Bill Withers, Don Henley, Tracy Chapman, and more, plus original songs touching on complexities of love, finding one's path, and social issues. By showtime, summer will be rounding the corner into the school year. The anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom will be just over the horizon. The vibration will be of connection, of peace. Bring a friend. Or come solo and maybe meet a new friend. Dance if you feel like it.
