As we begin the 2026 legislative session, I want to invite you to an open and honest town hall conversation about where our district stands and where our focus must remain.
Over the past several years, our community has seen meaningful investments that show what is possible when local leaders, educators, health care providers, and residents work together. One of the most significant milestones was the construction and opening of the new Milford Middle School, welcoming more than 500 students and families back into the Lakeview community. Built on historic ground, the school recognizes Milford’s role in the desegregation of public education in Delaware and represents both the challenges our community faced and the progress it achieved. Bringing education, recreation, and community life back into this neighborhood has been an important step forward.
We have also seen continued growth in health care access. The former Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital campus on Clark Avenue has been revitalized as the Milford Wellness Village. Over the past year, that campus has expanded with new services, including Genoa Pharmacy and the growth of Village Primary Care. Today, more than 25 health care and social service organizations serve residents on that site alone, improving access to care for families, seniors, and underserved neighbors while strengthening the surrounding community.
While these local successes are worth celebrating, growth and investment only work when state government follows the law and respects transparency and accountability.
At this town hall, I will also discuss serious concerns I have raised regarding the actions of certain state departments, including DelDOT and the Department of Elections. After requesting and reviewing public records related to the Transportation Infrastructure Investment Fund, a program intended to grow sustainable full time jobs, it was discovered that millions of taxpayer dollars were directed to projects that did not meet the program’s legal requirements. These findings were shared publicly and with the press, and new legislation is now being drafted to address these violations.
We will also talk about automatic voter registration through the DMV and the importance of ensuring that voter eligibility laws are followed exactly as written. Safeguards exist in statute for a reason, and when they are not upheld, they must be corrected. Legislation is now being developed to fix these failures and restore confidence in the process.
Protecting children remains a core priority of my work. I will provide an update on legislation aimed at ensuring that any state employee convicted of sexual abuse or sexual solicitation of a minor does not receive a taxpayer funded pension. This effort has gained bipartisan support and reflects a shared belief that public service is a privilege and that those who abuse children should never be rewarded by the public they harmed.
This town hall is about celebrating what is working, confronting what is not, and hearing directly from you. Accountability is not partisan. It is a basic responsibility of government.
I look forward to listening, answering your questions, and having a real conversation about the issues that matter most to our families, our children, and our community.
Thank you for being engaged and for being part of the conversation.
