Forest Management for Wildlife

During this tour of Larry Beauregard’s woods, participants will hear about the practices that he has implemented to promote wildlife habitat, see the results of a patch cut during a recent harvest that is encouraging spruce and pine regeneration, and open space and edge growth for wildlife. The harvest provided a significant amount of coarse woody debris to build wildlife brush-piles with plans for a few more. There is diverse timber density to accommodate habitats along with snag trees and nest boxes at several sites. There is also a 20-acre beaver bog that is beginning to turn into a beaver meadow as well as several vernal pools.
