This class is designed for anyone who desires the knowledge and skills to take their candle-making to a pro level. Beginners and experienced candle makers are welcome.
This is more than just a candle making experience where you get basic instruction and leave with a couple of great smelling candles. This class is a deep dive into the art, science and techniques of candle making that can take your ideas into a new business or career and you will leave with a lot of great smelling candles!
This Masterclass is at least 4 hours long with a 30 minute lunch break at noon. Class may run longer than 4 hours because we want to make sure that each student has all of their questions answered and leaves feeling comfortable with everything learned in class.
First we discuss:
Safety
Candle types
Equipment needed
Each components of a candle in detail
Waxes
Colors
Scent & Fragrance Loads
Wick types and wicking sizes
Jars and vessels
Molds
Next we dive into candle math and how to calculate the wax and fragrance needed for any candle. Each student is then challenged to calculate the materials they will need for the jars and molds presented to them.

Then the fun begins…. the candle-making process! Everyone gets to make an assortment of candles to take home. A different technique is used for each candle. The skills learned for each project build onto each other and plenty of tips and tricks of the trade are shared too.
Everyone will learn the practical aspects of candle making, from prepping your vessels and adding fragrance and color to testing color shades, pouring, and cooling. Tips on cleaning your pouring pitchers and equipment easily are covered as well.
We then discuss properly conducting test burns before selling your candles. We will demonstrate proper and improper burning and troubleshoot possible burn issues. We also have a super cool burn template to help you organize your notes.
Last but not least, we discuss labeling candles, what is required on the product label, what is fun to have, and what verbiage helps to sell your candles.
We will take a 30-minute lunch break to keep everyone refreshed and energized. Feel free to bring your lunch or visit any of the restaurants in town during this break.
You do not need to bring anything to class - we provide all of the supplies you will need. We encourage you to bring any candle-related questions, problems, or issues you may have encountered so we can help you fix them.
