Patachitra is one of the traditional folk art of Bengal, carried on for centuries. These days this folk art is getting recognised and appreciated worldwide. Visitors come from all parts of the world to experience the paintings live. The painters who paint patachitras, are called Patuas. Normally for all such paintings natural colours made from various trees, leaves, flowers and clays are only used. But these days owing to the increase in cost of making natural colours and also owing to the usage of other surfaces for painting, chemical colours are also used. Another unique feature of these Patuas is that while showing the Scroll paintings (called patas) to guests, they sing songs, which are known as 'Pater Gaan'. These songs describe the paintings and are based on mythology or tribal rituals or even on various contemporary issues.
TOUR ITINERARY:
This is a day tour where you will be at the village to roam around the settlements of the Patuas. Check out their arts, their ways and means. You might be welcomed into a house where they will sing a song for you. You might experience some live paintings. The making of colours and the local brushes from the hair of goats (subject to the workshop being organised), listening to the songs of Patuas or the bauls and experiencing the village culture are all in the day's activity. The place is also excellent for photographers to shoot on various subjects.
PLEASE BE INFORMED that for day trip we have made arrangements for a room with attached toilet (with WC) in the house of a Chitrakar in the village. Food will be cooked here fresh and served to you.
TRANSPORTATION:
1. AC Car for transfers from Kolkata and back
2. Walk around the village.
3. Vehicle route starting from Peerless Hospital (EM Bypass) at 7 am. Please do not request for deviations when returning as any deviations will cost us additional charges.
FOOD :
1. Breakfast and Tea will be provided while driving down from Kolkata
2. Non veg (or Veg) Lunch. Fixed menu.
3. Packaged drinking water - 1 litre
EXCLUSIONS:
1. Any usage of any other mode of transport other than what is provided
2. Any additional usage of mineral water or beverages or cold drinks
3. Any tips to anybody
4. Any other charges outside the package.
CHARGES : Rs 3850/- per head. 50% is payable on booking and the balance 50% before 60days of the event.
CANCELLATION POLICY : NO REFUNDS ON CANCELLATION AFTER BOOKING
