Step into the Wonderful World of Words—where your pen becomes a wand and your imagination takes center stage! In this week-long creative writing experience, young authors ages 8-12 will explore the full journey of storytelling, from dreaming up exciting plots and characters to illustrating and publishing their very own hardcover book.
Writers will be guided through the same steps real authors take—brainstorming, drafting, editing, designing, and illustrating—within a fun, supportive, and creative environment.
By the end of the week, each participant will proudly take home a fully handwritten and illustrated hardcover book—an incredible keepsake that captures their creativity and effort.
Whether they're confident storytellers or just beginning to explore the magic of writing, this experience offers the perfect opportunity to grow their voice, stretch their imagination, and become a published young author.
And if drawing isn’t their thing—no worries! Clip art is available to help bring their stories to life, and one of our talented art instructors will be involved to assist with the artistic elements of the class.
This class is instructed by Alicia Smith. As a former pre-k-6th grade teacher, Alicia Smith is passionate about teaching children the writing process, while helping them put words to the creations they have within.
She has self published 4 books with many more to come. She is a mom of three and has 4 dogs. Inspiration for her books comes from nature, experiences with her kids and allowing her vivid imagination to run wild to create imaginative and funny tales for kids and their grownups to read together.
All materials and an apron will be provided by the Art Factory, but please dress for mess! This class is for ages 8-12.
