Join Stone’s Throw Yoga & Yoga Teacher/Author Hannah Demerise for an immersive outdoor experience based on Hannah’s quarterly outdoor activity book, The Secret Almanac.
Hannah will lead you through a series of embodied and light-hearted thoughtful practices designed to engage all five senses and connect you with the natural world during the winter solstice.
You’ll meet Hannah at the front of Stone’s Throw Yoga for check-in, before walking together towards the bushland across the road.
The first hour of the workshop will be spent outside, appreciating the natural world during the fading afternoon light on one of the shortest days of the year. The experience will begin with some guided breathing exercises to set the scene.
Then, together, you’ll move through a series of activities to connect each of the 5 senses with the natural world. This will include mindfulness meditation, exploring the local bushland, and trying some low-stakes creative activities (think finger-painting!). This will all take place undercover, which means you’ll be dry if it’s raining!
The second hour of the workshop, after sunset, will be spent in the Stone’s Throw Yoga Shala. You’ll kick off part two with a short, guided writing activity, while sipping some native herbal tea.
Next, by candle-light, Hannah will guide you through a balanced all-levels yoga asana practice inspired by the winter solstice. You’ll finish with some guided breathing and meditation to connect you to your own inner sense of natural peace.
You’ll leave feeling inspired, grounded, and connected to the Earth and the powerful forces of nature that underpin everything around us.
Please bring an umbrella and a warm jacket/jumper so that you stay dry and comfy during your time outside and your walk to/from the Shala.
