One of the most anticipated highlights of our festival this season is a very special evening we’re calling Opera Plus which will showcase some of Canada’s most celebrated vocal and instrumental talents in a
program that blends the power of opera with the intimacy of chamber music.
Hailed for her “crystalline tone and heartfelt delivery,” Canadian soprano Leslie Fagan has dazzled
audiences on the world’s most prestigious stages. She is also Assistant Professor and Voice Co ordinator at Wilfrid Laurier University, and maintains a private studios in New York, nurturing the next generation of singers.
Featuring Baritone, Russell Braun, one of Canada’s most esteemed operatic voices with a career that has taken him to the world’s leading opera houses. He is known not only for the richness of his voice but for the depth and humanity he brings to every role.
Tenor Colin Ainsworth’s expressive clarity have made him a favourite with audiences across North America and Europe. From Baroque to 20th -century gems, Colin brings versatility and warmth to even the most complex
operatic characters.
Mezzo Alyson McHardy, whose voice has been described as luminous and heartfelt. Alyson brings a natural charm and vocal ease that makes every phrase feel alive and beautifully shaped, whether in opera, oratorio, or art song. Her presence adds a wonderful balance and freshness to this stellar group.
At the piano is the ever sensitive and superbly gifted Carolyn Maule. Carolyn is a sought-after collaborator
known for her deep musical insight and artistry, and she has long been a key figure in Canada’s art song scene. Her long-standing musical partnership with Russel Braun is one of rare synergy–a conversation of equals that
allows the music to speak with unmatched clarity and grace.
Guy Few, a true musical chameleon. Whether dazzling us on trumpet or piano, or adding his distinctive flair as a vocalist, Guy brings showmanship, spontaneity, and sheer joy to the stage. His musical imagination knows no bounds and his presence ensures that Opera Plus will be full of surprise and sparkle.
