On Sunday, July 20th, Musicians on a Mission will host, “OUR PLACE” OPEN MIC & FOOD DRIVE at the Middletown Arts Center, 36 Church Street, Middletown, NJ (across the street from the train station) from 11:30 – 4:00pm. Guest host will be Joe Lepis.
Joe has chosen to make PLACES the theme of this open mic, which means you should do at least TWO songs that have to do with the theme, plus one more song (cover or original). This means that you will sing at least two songs that have to do with any place or location or any band that is named after a place, like Alabama, the E Street Band, Chicago or Boston, the Georgia Satellites, etc. You might like to sing, “Graceland” or “California Dreamin’.” Maybe even, “In My Room” or “Down on the Corner” or “Up a Lazy River.” There are so many songs that will fit this theme. You decide on three good songs and we'll listen. Just keep it at 12 minutes or under!
There will be a grand finale song for everyone to sing at the end of the day. Our finale song will be Wilbert Harrison’s, “Kansas City.” Joe will be leading the finale, playing it in the key of C. Here’s a link to a video with lyrics:
